Darvel Generics was founded in 2016 with the concept of equal access for all patients to quality medicines. In Least Developed Counties the burden of disease is shifting from acute to chronic non-communicable diseases (NCD). With the democratisation of information, patients in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) want like access to more than just basic and the most essential medicines.
In LDCs specific medicines can be difficult to find and there is often a fear of ineffective and counterfeit medicines. Wealthy patients from LDCs often seek healthcare in destinations such as Bangkok, the UAE, South Africa, London or India as medical tourists.
Darvel's goal is to develop validated formulations of medicines beyond the essential drugs list, for manufacture in Least Developed Countries for the benefit of those who otherwise would do without. Darvel partners with domestic manufacturers in LDCs to improve patient access through knowledge sharing.
